Not all disabilities or impairments are visible. Non-visible disabilities, or invisible or hidden disabilities are not immediately obvious. They can be physical, mental or neurological. Examples include autism and Asperger syndrome, learning difficulties and dementia, as well as mental health conditions and speech, visual or hearing impairments. Also respiratory and chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, chronic pain and sleep disorders when these impact daily life.
To find out more about these hidden impairments, we have books on many of these topics. Please browse through the booklists below. There is also a collection of equality, diversity and inclusion ebooks here – just click on the cover image and log in with your NHS Athens account.
